Darkmoon in Scorpio: Compost the Old & Remember to Flow

Darkmoon in Scorpio: Compost the Old & Remember to Flow

On Thursday, 20 November 2025, the Scorpio Darkmoon arrives in Australia at twighlight, asthe sun slips beneath the horizon, the sky bruises into indigo, and the veil between worlds thins. This is a moon of descent, rather than bright beginnings, of composting, of surrendering to the underworld currents that Scorpio commands.

Scorpio is ruled by Pluto and Mars, guardians of death and rebirth, shadow and fire. This lunation is intensified by six retrograde planets, pulling us inward, backward, into memory and shadow. The heavens themselves become a mirror of descent, asking us to pause before we rise again.

The Celestial Story

  • Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio whispers secrets long hidden, urging us to speak what has been silenced
  • Jupiter Retrograde in Cancer draws us into ancestral waters, reminding us that healing is found in family roots
  • Saturn Retrograde in Pisces tests our spiritual boundaries, asking us to hold compassion without dissolving
  • Chiron Retrograde in Aries reopens wounds of courage, teaching us that vulnerability is the truest bravery
  • Uranus Retrograde in Taurus shakes the ground beneath our feet, demanding innovation in how we hold resources
  • Neptune Retrograde in Pisces clears the fog, sharpening intuition and dissolving false illusions

The Grand Water Trine

This Darkmoon is held within a Grand Water Trine, a sacred triangle of flow between the three water signs:

  • Sun and Moon in Scorpio descent, shadow work, rebirth
  • Jupiter in Cancer ancestral healing, emotional expansion
  • Saturn and Neptune in Pisces spiritual discipline and dissolving illusions

Together, these three  planets in the Trine weave emotional depth, psychic sensitivity, and spiritual receptivity. It is a current of ease, but also of intensity; water moves us into feeling, memory, and intuition. It is vital that you remember to go with the flow, rather than fight against the tides, as the tides will drown you when you fight against them.

Uranus in Taurus Opposing the Water Trine

Yet across the wheel, Uranus in Taurus stands in opposition. Uranus is the planet of revolution, disruption, and awakening. In Taurus, a fixed earth sign, Uranus shakes the foundations of stability: money, possessions, food, land, and the body.

  • Opposition to the Water Trine Uranus electrifies the harmony, jolting the flow of water into new channels
  • Intensity Emotional comfort (water trine) is challenged by material instability (Uranus in Taurus)
  • Meaning The descent is not gentle it is radical. The Scorpio Darkmoon asks us to compost shadow while Uranus demands we also revolutionise our values, our relationship to the earth and our embodiment

Imagine the Grand Water Trine gathered at a sacred river, weaving intuition and emotional wisdom. Suddenly, Uranus strikes like lightning into the earth, cracking the riverbank, forcing the waters to change course. The trine must adapt, flowing into new channels, reshaping the land itself. This is the intensity of the moment: harmony disrupted, but transformation demanded.

The Scorpio Temple of Asteroids

Within Scorpio, the asteroids gather like priestesses around the cauldron:

  • Juno tests the contracts of intimacy, asking whether loyalty is chosen or coerced.
  • Vesta tends the inner flame, reminding us that devotion begins within.
  • Ceres teaches nourishment through descent, composting grief into fertile soil.
  • Pallas reveals wisdom in shadow patterns, strategy born of descent.

Together, they weave a chorus of feminine wisdom, guiding us through the underworld gates.

Twilight Descent Elixir

  • 1 tsp dried Mugwort (vision, dreamwork)
  • 1 tsp dried Echinacea root (resilience, immune strength)
  • 1 sprig fresh Rosemary (clarity, ancestral remembrance)
  • 2 dried Rose petals (heart opening)
  • A pinch of Damiana (passion, emotional shift)
  • A pinch of Burdock root (release, cleansing)
  • Optional: Lavender flowers for balance
  • Symbolic Holly leaf (protection; place in cup as offering, remove before drinking)
  1. Boil water and pour over the herbs in a heatproof vessel
  2. Cover and steep for 10 minutes, allowing the steam to rise like prayers
  3. Strain into a chalice or ritual cup
  4. Hold the cup at twilight, whispering into it the truths you are ready to release
  5. Sip slowly, letting the plants guide your descent and shape work

Ritual at Twilight

This ritual is designed for the Australian twilight, when the Darkmoon is exact:

  1. Prepare the Circle at sunset: as the sky bruises into indigo, light black candles. Place a bowl of water at the centre with rosemary sprigs floating upon it.
  2. Invocation: call upon Pluto and Mars, guardians of Scorpio, and the asteroids Juno, Vesta, Ceres and Pallas. Speak their names as if opening gates.
  3. Shadow Mirror: sit before a mirror in candlelight. Whisper the truths you have hidden, the griefs you have carried. Offer them into the water bowl.
  4. Plant Ally Offering: burn mugwort or rosemary. Sip the Twilight Descent Elixir. Place holly leaves at the threshold of your space.
  5. Closing at nightfall: when darkness fully arrives, carry the water bowl outside. Pour its contents into the soil. The earth drinks your shadows, composting them into fertile ground. Whisper: “From descent, I rise renewed."

Twighlight Alchemy and Shadow Renewal

This Scorpio Darkmoon is a phoenix moment. Twilight itself becomes the ritual—day dissolving into night, self dissolving into shadow, shadow dissolving into renewal. The Grand Water Trine offers emotional depth and flow, but Uranus in Taurus electrifies the harmony, demanding radical transformation in values, embodiment, and earth connection.

The story of this moon is not collapse but compost. It is the sacred truth that descent is the first step toward rebirth.
